The Albany Park Neighborhood Council (APNC) is a multi-issue, grassroots, intergenerational community organization that unites youth and families from Albany Park and surrounding communities of West Ridge, Irving Park, and North Park around common values of racial, economic and social justice. APNC’s organizing approach is based on the premise that residents themselves hold the solutions to the problems that face their communities. A one-year $30,000 core grant in 2011 will allow APNC to organize to protect immigrant rights, to preserve affordable and quality housing, to dismantle the system of youth criminalization and to improve the quality of public education for low-income students of color in Chicago.
