Padres & Jóvenes, DPS students, and community members will be taking our concerns directly to the school board, demanding that they:
1. Release the full findings of the investigation into DPS’ role in allowing police to harass and traumatize the RiseUp Community School last spring.
2. Provide lasting and comprehensive mental health supports to the Cole community, rather than simply responding to intra-communal conflict with additional policing that further criminalizes black and brown bodies.
3. Investigate the Department of Safety under Chief Eaton, and specifically examine the use of the “out of control student” designation and firmly opposing any and all efforts to further arm any DOS officers.
4. Remove all SROs from DPS schools by 2020.
