The Alliance for Quality Education put out a new report on Foundation Aid ahead of today’s state Senate round table discussion on the issue at Yonkers Riverfront Library from 10 am to 2 pm.
State lawmakers have so thoroughly ignored the Foundation Aid funding formula that it exists “in name only,” according to a report released Wednesday by the Alliance for Quality Education-New York. The state spends more than $23,000 per student, a little less than double the national average. But AQE and other advocates have argued that the figure is insufficient and that too little of the money flows to the school districts where students need it the most.
