Citizens For A Better Greenville (GBG), founded in 2001, is an instrumental organization in creating pathways for effective information exchange, advocacy and change within the Greenville public schools. Renewal grants of $30,000 in 2012 and 2013 will allow CCBG youth- and parent-led education organizing work in the Delta to improve special education, reduce student drop-outs, reform student discipline policies and to increase funding and community involvement in Greenville public schools. CCGB will also continue to play a lead role in a number of regional and national collaboratives including the Mississippi Catalyst Roundtable, the Greenville Juvenile Detention Alternative Initiative, the Choice Alliance for students with disabilities and the national Equal Voice for America’s Families, CPER, School to Prison Pipeline Council and Dignity in Schools Campaign initiatives.
