A one year $30,000 renewal grant will enable the Arkansas Public Policy Panel (APPP) to pursue local organizing in rural predominantly African American communities in Arkansas while also building a state wide coalition for educational equity. At the state level, APPP has created a coalition of 56 independent organizations that work to drive an equity agenda for school funding, parent involvement, teacher quality, special education reform and passage of the Arkansas DREAM Act. During the coming year, at the local level, APPP will continue to support community based organizations to develop organizing campaigns based on the goals they have set, which focus on parent engagement, improved curriculum, transparency and accessibility, funding and accountability, quality administrators and teachers, and working with local school boards to implement changes.
