This $30,000 renewal grant will support Make the Road New York’s (MRNY) adult and youth organizing for education equity, youth organizing for immigration policy reform and for fair and just policing in New York City. Over the last year, MRNY has been successful in organizing for a capital campaign to build new school buildings in Queens; improve police accountability; and to push the new mayoral administration to take bold and necessary steps to address the School to Prison Pipeline in NYC. MRNY continues to play a lead role with the Annenberg Institute Community Involvement Program’s NYC Coalition for Educational Justice (CEJ) and the New York Immigration Coalition’s (NYIC) Education Task Force, which is a coalition of education organizing groups who focus on issues impacting immigrant students. MRNY’s Youth Power Project is also a member of the Annenberg Community Involvement Program’s citywide Urban Youth Collaborative (UYC).
