Discover why it is important to use this precious oil regularly
It is rich in essential fatty acids, it has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and immunostimulant properties, so much so that it is increasingly used in the production of cosmetics, parapharmaceutical products, therapeutic, relaxing and ayurvedic massages: we are talking about hemp oil.
It is a true ally of beauty, youth and personal care, because it helps to restore the correct epidermal balance. Used for a long time in various fields, hemp oil was discovered by the cosmetic world only a few years ago and today it is increasingly used in the production of many products intended to moisturize the epidermis, because – thanks to the high content of Gamma linoleic acid and omega 3 – it is a key ingredient for the synthesis of ceramides, the fundamental layer that makes up our skin. It is no coincidence that today hemp oil is used both as a component of ointments, anti-wrinkle creams, anti-aging lotions, ointments and detergents of various kinds, to restore and soften dry and chapped skin, and for the production of massage oils, shampoos and soaps, which help to restore the correct balance and nourishment of the skin, thanks to its cleansing, soothing and moisturizing action. In this article we will talk about hemp oil, its benefits and possible contraindications found.
Hemp oil: properties and benefits
Hemp oil is distinguished by its color, which can vary significantly from light green to darker and more intense green. Its smell is not particularly strong and the strong aroma vaguely reminds of hazelnut.
The fundamental difference between hemp oil (obtained by extraction from the seeds) and other oils used in nutrition is the content of alpha linolenic acid, but also the balance between omega-3 and omega-6, present in this precious oil in a 3:1 ratio. This ratio is particularly recommended by doctors and nutrition researchers, because it helps the natural balance of the body.
It is no coincidence, in fact, that hemp oil used in the food industry is able to provide numerous vitamins, such as A, E, but also B1, B2, PP, and C, ideal amounts of essential minerals, such as iron and calcium, phosphorus, magnesium and potassium, large amounts of amino acids, fundamental elements for the human body, but also phytosterols and cannabinoids (especially CBD, or Cannabidiol) which helps strengthen the immune system and also the cognitive one.
Taking 4-5 teaspoons of hemp oil every day helps to quickly reduce the values of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood. It can be used instead of the normal extra virgin olive oil, the important thing is to always use it raw, in order not to lose its beneficial properties; for this reason it is important to be wary of guides and recipes which suggest cooking it (in this case it would not be harmful, but all its beneficial properties would be lost).
Slightly different is hemp seeds oil for medical and cosmetic use, because it is generally more refined, lacking of its nutrients, with a less strong smell and a lighter color than the one destined to food use.
Hemp oil for cosmetic and medical use is more and more used for the treatment of dry and atopic dermatitis, but also to fight the signs and effects of psoriasis, herpes, erythema and eczema, all types of itches, warts and even mycosis and topical inflammations.
